Use & Applications
The Floodcam combines a wireless color camera and a pair of floodlights
in weatherproof housing. The 2.4-GHz, 3-lux (light level) camera turns on
when motion is detected (as do its floodlights when it's dark), sends a
signal to a warning chime (optional), and transmits video to your TV. You
can save video to a VCR or see it on your PC. The FloodCam replaces existing
floodlights.
If you don't already have a Video Receiver or optional VCR Commander then
we recommend getting the complete FloodCam Kit (see IH8082). With this combination
package, you'll get the NEW FloodCam and a Video Receiver. The Video Receiver
plugs right into any TV/VCR using standard RCA cables and receives the video
signals transmitted from your camera.
The FloodCam is activated by the integrated motion sensor so that when someone
approaches your home, the floodlights (bulbs not included) come on, turning
night into day and the camera catches the startled intruder on video! The
camera transmits its picture via a built-in 2.4 GHz transmitter, to a Video
Receiver (not included) which you connect to a TV anywhere in your home.
The FloodCam sends the wireless signals even through walls, up to 100 feet
so you can watch and record all the action!
The SECRET behind the FloodCam is the "smart" Built-In Wireless Motion
Sensor. The video camera always turns on when motion is detected and the
floodlights always turn on when it is dark and motion is detected. (An X10
Transceiver is NOT necessary for this, but is required for multi-camera
applications.)
In a multi-camera setup, the motion sensor sends wireless Radio Frequency
(RF) signals to an X10 Transceiver (e.g.TM13) (or VCR Commander.) The Transceiver
receives the signals from the Motion Sensor and passes them onto your house
wiring. These signals send the information back out to turn off the other
cameras or to sound a chime, illuminate hallway lights, etc.
This is a very simple system to install - just a few connections and you're
up and running assuming you will use the FloodCam to replace an existing
floodlight fixture. If not, you will need to install a wall box and run
conduit to it. If you need help installing a wall box and running conduit
please contact a local professional installer!
YOU CONTROL EVERYTHING:

Underneath the FloodCam unit is a
hidden control panel (shown: left) that allows you to easily configure
all the settings! Set the Channel to the same channel on your Video
Receiver. The FLOODLIGHT CONTROL function allows you to detect motion
at all times (LIGHT) or only when it gets dark (DARK). Using the TIME
DELAY dial you can adjust how long the camera waits to turn off after
motion has stopped. The CAMERA MODE switch lets you set how the camera
responds to motion and X10 controllers. Using the 2 dials at the bottom,
set the camera's unit code and house code (example A-4). Keep your
cameras in groups of 4 for better scanning control. |
The Double external PIR can turn on up to 8 different devices inside/outside
your home so you'll not only scare off intruders with light, but notify
people inside your home that something is lurking in your yard.
In addition to turning on dual floodlights when the detector picks up motion,
the double external PIR can turn on up to four X10 modules in or around
your home based on motion. It also includes a light sensor, which can turn
up to four additional X10 modules at dusk and off again at dawn.
Security and convenience applications for this product are endless. Activate
indoor/outdoor lighting, or activate your barking dog when someone approaches.
The double external PIR is completely weatherproof and can be used
with incandescent or halogen bulbs up to 150W. The floodlights can also
be turned on manually from an X10 transmitter. When it is turned on manually,
the floodlights stay on and the motion detection is temporarily disabled
until the floodlights are turned off again from an X10 transmitter
